Capital Springs BioBlitz

575 days old

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Activities: Educational Programs, Nature study, Outdoor activity, Wildlife conservation, Wildlife study
Location: Capital Springs SRA

The Milwaukee Public Museum is sponsoring the very first BioBlitz in Dane County at Lake Farm County Park! Over 90 scientists from several different fields will identify as many plant and animal species as they can within a 24-hour period. Spiders, insects, mammals, plants, fish, reptiles and many other species will be identified.

Come and see what they discover! Use microscopes, see live critters, and interact with the scientists! Enjoy activities and games, bring home free native seeds so you can support biodiversity at home. Also, explore UW Arboretum's citizen science activities, Aldo Leopold Nature Center's skins and skulls display, Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District's water exhibit, the Milwaukee Public Museum's curator displays, and a guided prairie walk at 1 p.m. For more information, see the BioBlitz website.

This event is free and open to the public - a great family event! Event hosts are the Friends of Capital Springs Recreation Area and Dane County Parks. Event partners include Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District and the DNR.
