"Winged Wonders" family event

Location: Mead Wildlife Area Center

Have you ever smelled the flowers outside? Enjoyed the taste of your favorite fruit or vegetable? Who do you think is to thank? Our native pollinators (birds, bats, butterflies, and bees)! Bring your family and friends for a day of fun learning activities, interactive displays, and organizations interested in our native pollinators.

A Butterfly Presentation "The Marvelous Monarchs" by Kathy McGrath. Kathy will have live examples to share too will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Kathy is a retired kindergarten teacher from Port Edwards. Since retiring Kathy is busy giving presentations, raising and tagging the Monarch butterfly. In the spring of 2017 she worked to have Port Edwards named the first Monarch Village in the United States.

Kris Rued-Clark will be here to sign and discuss her book: "Adventures on Wisconsin's Ice Age Trail."

Additional Activities planned for the day are: a scavenger hunt, crafts, children activities, prizes. Admission is Free, but donations are always appreciated

Mead Wildlife Area Center information

The Stanton W. Mead Education and Visitor Center is a 6,208 square foot education and administration facility designed as an example of sustainable and environmentally-responsible construction. One of the goals of the Mead Wildlife Area is to provide wildlife and environmental programs to the citizens of Wisconsin. These programs help to foster a sense of environmental stewardship, that through education we can achieve a better understanding of the values and issues of our wildlife and natural resources.
