Owl Prowl

Join us for this annual event to discover why owls are the perfect night hunters. Dress for the weather because we will go outside to search for these predators. Meet at the Visitor Center but be prepared to drive.

Richard Bong SRA information

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is fittingly named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America's leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

Eagle Adventure

Meet at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. Carpool to some areas that have held bald eagles in the past. Bring warm clothes and binoculars. Spotting scopes for all will be available. Eagle be a good time!

Bluebird Nest Box Workshop

Time: 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Activities: Arts and Crafts, Birding, Educational Programs
Location: Interstate SP

Join Lowell Peterson, Jim Beix, and Jim Higgins (from the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin) at the Ice Age Center as they give a free presentation that will cover the best habitat to attract birds, how to minimize predation, and the value of nest box monitoring. After the presentation, there will be the opportunity for visitors to construct their very own bluebird nest box. Each kit costs $10 (available while supplies last).Families are welcome.

Located along the picturesque St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, the park provides scenic views of the river and the steep-sided gorge known as the Dalles of the St. Croix. Bugling Cranes Exploring Nature Program

With loud bugling calls, sandhill cranes announce their arrival back to Wisconsin in very early spring. Discover many fascinating facts about these large ancient birds. This program is best for people over the age of 8 years old. Location: Ice Age Visitor Center (located off Hwy 67 half mile west of Dundee).

Kettle Moraine SF - Northern Unit information

The Kettle Moraine Northern Unit is comprised of about 30,000 acres stretching 30 miles across Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Washington Counties. The forest is managed for multiple use, including recreation management, sustainable forest products, water quality and soil protection, terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, native biological diversity and aesthetics.

Cranes, Herons and Egrets: The Elegance of our Tallest Birds

Join us at the Ice Age Center for a special presentation by author, naturalist, and wildlife photographer, Stan Tekiela! He has written over 100 field guides and has made numerous audio CDs to help people identify birds (or frogs) by their calls. Here at Interstate Park we happen to have our own blue heron rookery, so this will be a great way to learn more about our long-legged friends.
