Location: Council Grounds SP

Join the Friends of Council Grounds for this fun, family-friendly event. Walk along a candlelit path through the park. Flashlights optional. Warming fires and light refreshments will be at the log shelter.

Council Grounds SP information

Native American encampments once occupied the site of Council Grounds State Park. Located along the Wisconsin River and Lake Alexander, this park is a favorite for water enthusiasts. This 508-acre park also offers camping, hiking, hunting and fishing opportunities.

Spring Candlelight Hike

Time: 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Location: Kohler-Andrae SP

Come to Kohler-Andrae State Park for the second annual Spring Candlelight Hike. Beginning at the enclosed shelter, adjacent to Park Lot #7, this self-guided hike illuminated by tiki torches will take hikers through the south picnic area, onto part of the Woodland Dunes Trail, and then to the Marsh Trail. Listen for Spring Peeper and Wood frogs along with other sounds of spring. Then gather around the fire ring to hear songs and stories by Chris Lilek. Light refreshments will be provided at the shelter. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets allowed.

Kohler-Andrae State Park is one of the last natural preserves along the Lake Michigan shore, and is open for everyone to explore and enjoy.

Summer Candlelight Hike in the Park

Time: 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Activities: Astronomy, Candlelight events, Festivals, Food, Hike, Night event, Outdoor activity
Location: Kohler-Andrae SP

Annual self-guided hike along a marked trail illuminated by tiki torches. Trail runs along the shoreline and on the cordwalk through the dunes. Park at Sanderling Nature Center Lot P3 or North Beach Lot P2. No pets or strollers allowed on the hike. Snacks and refreshments will be available at Sanderling Nature Center.

Fall Night Hike

Enjoy a tiki-torch-lit hike around Quarry Lake and enjoy live music. The Friends of Harrington Beach will offer food and hot beverages to warm visitors on a crisp night. Sponsored by the Friends of Harrington Beach. Meet at the Welcome Center.

Harrington Beach SP information

Harrington Beach State Park has more than a mile of beach along Lake Michigan. This 715-acre park also features a white cedar and hardwood swamp, old field grasslands with restored wetland ponds and a scenic limestone quarry lake. Camp, sunbathe, picnic, hike, bird watch, fish or practice astronomy. An observatory is open to the public for monthly viewings.
