Hourly Rate: $9.845 per hour, plus $0.45 per hour for evenings after 6p.m. and $0.60 per hour for Saturday and Sunday work.

Job Description: ASSISTANT NATURALIST GUIDE LTE: 30% Conduct property interpretive and environmental education programs for users. 30% Conduct nature hikes and programs to educate users on the property's natural features, flora, fauna, wildlife and environmental issues. 10% Establish and improve PowerPoint programs, visuals hands-on displays. 15% Develop and prepare exhibits that highlight the property and participate in public relations programs. 15% Develop and/or assist in developing education/naturalist programs for the property and prepares information about the natural and human history.
Communication skills (public speaking, press releases); ability to interact positively with park visitors, staff and volunteers; basic understanding of environmental concepts; specific knowledge of Door County and Peninsula State Park helpful; basic understanding of educational methods and techniques related to program planning and delivery. Ability to research for accurate information; ability to organize, plan and evaluate interpretive nature programs; and dependability. Ability to lead kayak tours along park shoreline preferred; must be able to complete online DNR boater safety course. Computer experience preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Past experience in conducting education programs. College students who are enrolled or have completed a natural sciences and/or education program preferred. The candidate must be willing to conduct programs for children and enjoy working with families.

Additional Information: The candidate must be able to travel while on duty, mileage will be reimbursed. Housing is available on the property. Interviews will be held March 29. This position requires weekend, evening and holiday work. You will be required to attend an on-boarding session sometime in late April or early May, prior to your start date at the property.
