Hourly Rate: Between $10.00 - $11.00 per hour depending on experience and training, plus $0.45 per hour for evenings after 6 p.m. and $0.60 per hour for Saturday and Sunday work. This creel survey position is part time ONLY and will be a backup to other creel clerks on Northern Lake Michigan and Green Bay. Days worked will be determined on an as needed basis with no set hours per week initially scheduled. Best estimates are 2 to 4 days per month.You will be paid at time and one half for any hours worked on holidays.
Duration: Approximately April 1, 2013 to October 31, 2013
Job Description: FISHERIES TECHNICIAN - CREEL SURVEY: Lake Michigan Creel Survey - 10% Lead other LTE Fisheries Technicians performing creel survey duties. 70% Independently or under general supervision perform creel survey clerk duties and collect fish information on designated waters. Measure, weigh, and identify fish caught. Interview anglers. Record data. 20% Compile and analyze data and prepare written documentation and/or reports.
Must be able to accurately identify common Lake Michigan fish to species name. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision. Must be able to approach anglers where they commonly fish - this includes piers and breakwaters, rocky shorelines, open sand, cobble beaches, and along streams and rivers over uneven terrain. Must be willing to work in inclement weather. Must be willing to work early morning and late evening hours according to an irregular assigned schedule.

This position requires working all weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel to multiple locations. Must be available to work from March 15 to October 31.
