Job Description: Visitor Services Associate - LTE

This position will be required to work mainly weekends and will assist with the Wildlife Conservation Education Program at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center and the operation of the Horicon Marsh Explorium.

40% Visitor Services: Greet and assist visitors about the recreational and educational opportunities at the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center. Provide answers to general questions regarding DNR programs, rules and regulations that pertain to the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Area. Assist with the operation of office equipment and telephone to direct phone calls to appropriate staff member.

20% Financial Activities: Order, receive, count and securely store admission bracelet inventory. Collect revenue from admission/entry fees to the Horicon Marsh Explorium and keep accurate records to ensure balances are accurate. Maintain accurate records associated with revenue collection and admission type. Assist with visitor rate tracking and follow all visitor guideline procedures. Maintain brochures, pamphlets and other informational materials.

40% Multi-program Support: Assist the Wildlife Conservation Educator with tours of the Horicon Marsh Explorium to interested groups and visitors. The Horicon Marsh Explorium is an interactive experience that documents the story of the Horicon Marsh, from the Ice Age, all the way through the Department of Natural Resources current management. Assist Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center Building Manager with maintenance and cleanliness of the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
1. Cash handling best business practices
2. Word processing, spreadsheet, and communication software programs
3. Record keeping
4. Good judgment in handling visitor situations

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Understanding of the Horicon Marsh and the Horicon Marsh Wildlife Conservation Education Program
2. Understanding of outdoor education teaching techniques and principles of outdoor interpretation
3. Skills in identification of common Wisconsin wildlife and habitats
