Job Description: Visitor Services Associate - Campground Manager

These positions will be stationed in Woodruff or Boulder Junction. Employees in these positions are assigned to and required to live at one of the outlying campgrounds within the forest in their own camping unit throughout their employment period.

The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest has a unique working experience for those who enjoy camping and interacting with people. The state forest is hiring campground managers to live and work in our outlying campgrounds and are our front-line staff who interact with campers. Campground managers are required to live in these campgrounds and perform customer service as well as light landscaping and maintenance duties.

45% Greet visitors, register campers, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Issue admission receipts in accordance with established guidelines. Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific forest area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, and campground availability.

45% Campground maintenance to include daily cleaning of pit toilets, picking up litter, cleaning fire rings, painting, grass mowing and miscellaneous maintenance duties.

10% Remitting monies collected, fiscal and inventory record keeping.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to provide consistent, positive customer service and communicate effectively
- Ability to handle a large number of financial transactions with minimal to no errors in cash handling or reporting
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to handle light landscaping and maintenance duties

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Experience working on a desktop computer using a Windows interface
