Job Description: Visitor Services Associate - LTE

The Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire multiple Visitor Services Associates at the Kettle Moraine Northern Unit.

These positions work independently performing a variety of duties including camper registration and sticker sales, and providing visitor information at the various forest entrance stations. Visitor Services Associates will use electronic cash registers, credit card readers, and computerized reservation and reporting systems. Knowledge: experience in cash handling and customer service. Cash register and personal computer operation preferred. Employment: work 40 hours per week mid-May through Labor Day, must be able to work weekends, evenings, & some holidays. Some spring, fall and winter weekends are also available.

65% Greet visitors, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Work at entrance stations, campgrounds or other visitor contact stations. Use electronic cash registers, electronic credit card verification equipment and computerized reservation and reporting systems.

25% Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific park area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, concessions and campground availability

10% Distribute brochures, maps and provide directions/routes of travel throughout the park; inform visitors of potential safety hazards.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual.
Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public.
Ability to work in diverse weather conditions for long periods of time.
Have an interest or knowledge in Wisconsin's Natural Resources.
Must be able to provide a form of transportation from Forest Headquarters to work station every shift.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prior work experience in cash handling
Prior work experience in customer service.
Proficient in basic computer operations.
Experience in using a cash register.
Prior work experience with State Parks or Forests.
