Job Description: Wildlife Technician Advanced - LTE

This position will assist the wildlife management team in the Columbia County Area with implementation and monitoring of oak ecosystem, prairie and wetland restoration efforts on public lands.

15% Assist with the implementation of prescribed forestry management activities, including but not limited to timber stand improvement, crop-tree release or select thinning.

15% Utilize DNR technological systems and Arc GIS to monitor and track habitat accomplishments.

70% Assist with the establishment and maintenance of native and introduced grasslands and wetland communities. This includes tilling and planting grasslands; maintaining dikes and water control structures; removing invasive plants and brush through mowing, manual pulling or by herbicide applications and removing brush and fencerows on wildlife properties by mowing, chainsaws and herbicide application.

Knowledge Required: Candidates for this position should have a working knowledge of wildlife management techniques pertaining to common Wisconsin habitat types. They should be familiar with equipment operation and maintenance including UTVs, boats, chainsaws and tractors. Experience with GIS and mapping software is preferred. Candidates are required to have a driver's license and the willingness to acquire a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) upon being hired.
