Title: LTE - FISHERIES TECHNICIAN

Hourly Rate: Between $12.00 - $12.50 per hour depending on experience and training.

Duration: Job starts approximately January 8, 2018

Job Description: Fisheries Technician-LTE

This job involves conducting interviews and collecting data from sport anglers fishing Lake Superior. Angler interviews are conducted following completed angler trips at designated access sites. Interview data include start and end time, target species, and identification and measurement of harvested fish.

70% Independently or under general supervision perform creel census clerk duties and collect fish information on designated waters. Measure, weigh and identify fish caught. Interview anglers. Record data.

20% Compile and analyze data and prepare written documentation and/or reports.

10% Lead other LTE Fisheries Technicians performing creel census duties. Assist with other fisheries sampling as needed.

Knowledge Required:
- Able to accurately identify common Wisconsin fish to species name.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Able to approach anglers where they commonly fish.
- Willing to work in inclement weather.
- Willing to work early morning and late evening hours according to an irregular assigned schedule.
