NER_01_CMP12 - 303d Assessment of 5 streams
Return to Search
Assess 5 streams for 303d impairment. Wuerches is impaired for TP / sediment which has caused low DO, elevated water temperature and degraded habitat. Harrington, Roy, Silver and Hill Creeks are all listed for sediment resulting in degraded habitat. - Hill (146200), Roy (148200), Silver (146800), Wuerches (148300) and Harrington (143700) Roy, Hill, Silver and Wuerches all discharge into Big Green Lake which effects the water quality of this system. The Lake District needs up-to-date information regarding the levels of phosporus and TSS that are entering this system. Most information is very old (> 10 years) and an upadate of this information will lkely lead to active mgmt by parties interested in the water quality of Green Lake. Harrington Creek is missing recent data of any kind so it is necessary to collect pertinent water chmeistry, habitat and fish data to validate whether or not this system should be listed as impaired. Since these streams are all located in the same general area it makes sense to conduct additonal sampling for multiple parameters. I.E. travel costs will not be increased
To complete the data sets such that the current 303(d) designations can be completely verified / validated. Information needed: 1. Harrington Creek - water quality (TSS / TP), fish, macro-inverts, habitat, temperature. 2. Roy Creek - water quality (TSS / TP), habitat, temp. 3. Hill Creek - water qulaity (TSS / TP), fish, habitat, temperature. 4. Silver Creek - water quality (TSS / TP), temperature. 5. Wuerches Creek - water quality (TSS / TP), fish, habitat, temperature.
1) Number of sample sites associated with the project = 5. 2) Number of sampling events associated with project is 43. 3) Estimated date when sample collection will be complete 06/30/2012. 4) Estimated date when all data will be entered into appropriate database 12/31/2012. 5) Estimated date when final report will be complete 12/31/2012. The Green Lake District has requested water chemistry / biological data to assist them in targetting these impaired water for future restoration / management.
