Menomonee River Fish Passage

Purpose

This project will eliminate a barrier to migratory fish in the Milwaukee Estuary AOC; Phase 1 includes removal of 1,200 feet of concrete lined river bed between the CP Railroad Bridge to Wisconsin Ave; Phase 2 is the removal of remaining 2,200 feet of concrete lined river bed between Wisconsin Ave and I-94.

Objective

This project will eliminate a barrier to migratory fish in the Milwaukee Estuary AOC thereby enabling fish passage to historical spawning and rearing habitat including 17 miles of the Menomonee River, 20 miles of tributary streams, and over 1,000 acres of wetland habitat.
