Butterflies & Dragonflies

Butterflies and dragonflies provide delight to many. You can help collect information to learn more about their populations and habitats. See project descriptions below.

Wisconsin Dragonflies and Damselflies

Skimmer.
A male twelve-spotted skimmer (Libellula pulchella)

Over 160 species of dragonflies and damselflies occur in Wisconsin. Citizen volunteers are needed because there are far too many habitats to check for the few professionals who work with these species. Participants in this survey collect or photograph species and submit their sightings through an online reporting form. Any level of commitment is appreciated. Get Involved (exit DNR).
