Chippewa Moraine State Recreation Area School field trips

Kettles, hummocks, a nature center, the Ice Age Trail and over 3000 acres, just some of the good reasons to take your students to Chippewa Moraine.

How to register

Call to schedule any programs or to reserve dates. Due to limited staffing, most programs are held from Tuesday through Thursday.

Programs

Chippewa Moraine offers several naturalist-guided programs correlated to Wisconsin Model Academic Standards.

Covered by ice

Learn about the causes and formations of the last continental glacier that entered Wisconsin and the glacier's natural and cultural effects. (Grades 4 - 12).

Historical activities

Students compete against their classmates throwing tomahawks, cutting wood with two-person crosscut saws and pulling their competitors off of short stumps. (Grades 4 - 12).

Reptile roundup

Find out if snakes are really "slimy" or cradle a baby snapping turtle in your hand. Watch a snake eat a meal, while discussing snake adaptations. (Grades 4 - 8).
