Roche-A-Cri State Park Current conditions

Conditions as of Monday, March 27, 2017:

The main gate is closed for the season, but visitors may still park at the winter/prairie parking lot on Czech Avenue (south of the park entrance) to access the park. There is a vault toilet and the parking lot is plowed in winter.

Many people have been hiking with the warmer weather. Please self-register if you do not already have a vehicle admission sticker, as they are required year-round in the winter parking lot. If you self-register, the sticker will be mailed to you.

The stairway is not maintained for winter use. Please remember no food, pets or drinks are allowed on the stairway. Users must keep on the stairway to protect the fragile ecosystem of the bluff. The stairway is open from 6 a.m. to sunset.

See the DNR Events Calendar for a list of events at Roche-A-Cri and other state parks.

The new photo contest has started for the year.

Think spring! Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 6 for the annual Work*Play*Earth Day sponsored by Friends of Roche-A-Cri. Call the Buckhorn office (the winter phone number for Roche-A-Cri) at 608-565-2789 to sign up. Bring water bottles, gloves, rakes and leaf blowers to clean up the campground and day use areas. Lunch is provided.

Don't move firewood!

Don't move firewood!Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, Wisconsin has restrictions for moving firewood.

The campground is closed for the season. Reservations for 2017 can be made online.
