Potawatomi State Park Current conditions

The park received about 10 inches of snow on Dec. 13. All ski trails have been rolled and are in good condition for skate skiing. The Blue trail has been tracked for stride skiing and is in good condition. We expect to have the Green, Red, and Black trails tracked for the weekend.

Please remember that hiking, biking, and pets are not permitted on ski trails when snow-covered. Please see the Potawatomi winter use map [PDF] for trails open to winter hiking and snowshoeing. Bikes may be ridden on park roadways.

The observation tower is closed for the season.

With measurable snow in the forecast, winter road closures are now in place. See the Potawatomi winter use map [PDF] for roads that remain open/plowed in the winter.

A limited number of campsites (with electrical hookups) remain open in the South Daisy Field campground. The campsites are first-come, first-served (no reservations during the off-season).

The shower building and all other water systems, including the fish cleaning station and dump station are closed for the season. Drinking water is available year-round near the campground shelter. Firewood must be purchased within 10 miles of the park.

Campsites may be reserved online or by calling 1-888-947-2757 for the 2018 camping season.

The park is open to hunting and trapping starting Nov. 15. For more information, see:

The launching piers have been removed for the season.

The fish cleaning station is closed for the season.

The park’s accessible fishing pier was severely damaged by high waves in 2014 and removed from the water. The Friends of Potawatomi State Park plan have started a fundraising campaign to support replacement of the accessible fishing pier in the picnic area.
