Trails

Cross-country ski trails: All ski trails, except the Newport Trail, are groomed for both classical/nordic and skate/Olympic skiing. Newport Trail is groomed for classic skiing only. For more information, see Travel Wisconsin's cross-country ski trail conditions.

Hiking/Snowshoeing Trails: All trails are open for hiking until snow arrives. Once there is snow, most trails are designated for cross-country skiing. Trails open year-round for hiking and snowshoeing include the Wild Rice, Lakeview, Echo Rock, Cliffwood Coulee, Sandstone Loop, Pulpit Rock and Bluff-Canyon trails.

Mountain Bike Trails: Bike trails are closed for the season. Mountain bike trails are open from May 1 to Oct. 31, weather permitting. See the biking webpage for more information.

Campgrounds

During the off-season, campsites 58-76 in the Sandstone Ridge campground remain open for camping. Once the snow arrives, campsites 59-65 will remain open for camping. All campers must have a reservation before setting up camp.

Cliffwood and Bluewater Bay campgrounds are closed for the season.

All shower buildings are closed for the season. Vault toilets are available behind site 59 and water is available at the park entrance station. The dump station is closed for the season.  

The park's accessible cabin, the Cabin in the Woods, is closed for the season. Reservations for 2024 will be accepted starting Jan. 10, 2024. See the accessible cabin webpage for more details and the reservation form.

The accessible cabin at Mirror Lake State Park will be closed until approximately the beginning of July 2024 due to construction in the campground. For the 2024 season, cabin reservations will only be available from July 1 to Oct. 15, 2024.

Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is open most days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A self-registration station is located next to the office's front door to purchase vehicle admission stickers if the office is closed.

Firewood is available to purchase at the park office when it is open. Firewood is also available to purchase from the Campground Host sites in Bluewater Bay and Sandstone Ridge campgrounds when volunteers are available.
