Merrick State Park Current conditions

South and Island campgrounds: The South and Island campgrounds are closed until further notice due to flooding.


The South and Island campgrounds are closed until further notice due to flooding. The North Campground is open, campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The dump station, shower building and drinking fountains will close for the season on Monday, Oct. 16.

Don't move firewood!Due to the potential of carrying harmful tree pests and diseases, Wisconsin has restrictions for moving firewood.

Please self-register at the contact station when the park office is closed.

Trails are in good hiking condition.


We have been seeing a few flocks of Canadian geese migrating south and the black birds are starting to flock up.

The fall migration is in full swing. Flocks of pelicans have been seen flying overhead, along with flocks of snow geese.


The Mississippi River is rising. Fishing has been reported to be slow due to the high water.

The dock is still in place, but you may need waders to launch.

Canoe and kayak rentals

Canoe and kayak rentals are closed for the season.
