Chippewa River State Trail Current conditions

The trail is groomed for snowmobiling from Porterville Road to Durand and connects up to the Red Cedar State Trail for access to the Dunn County snowmobile trail system. Trails are generally open for snowmobiling when the Dunn County and Eau Claire County snowmobile trails are open. Please visit the Travel Wisconsin website for current conditions.

The drinking fountain at Caryville is closed for the season, and the bathrooms will close on October 16. The bathrooms are closed at the Highway 85 wayside for the season. Please plan ahead and bring water with you if planning a long bike ride or hike.

The trail is open in the winter for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing (ungroomed), and other allowed uses. Bikers still need a trail pass in winter.

Due to the new reconstruction of Short Street, on street parking is no longer allowed - please use on street parking on Fehr Road or Mondovi Road to access the trail.

More information

Please report any downed trees, washouts or any other problems to the trail manager at 715-232-1242.

Bicyclists and in-line skaters 16 years or older must purchase a state trail pass. Passes can be purchased at the DNR Eau Claire office.
