Wisconsin State Park System Rustic accessible cabins for people with disabilities

For those unable to use outdoor campsites, the Wisconsin state park system offers 10 accessible cabins in various Wisconsin State Parks. There are two rustic cabins at Copper Falls and Blue Mound state parks. There are also eight larger cabins with amenities at other state parks. These cabins are available only to people with disabilities and their guests and must be reserved ahead of time.

Rustic Cabins

Properties with rustic accessible cabins

There are two rustic cabins at Copper Falls and Blue Mound state parks. The two rustic cabins feature the following items.

  • Wheelchair accessible.
  • An additional tent of up to 8 feet by 8 feet is allowed next to the cabin.
  • The maximum number of people the cabin holds is four (six including the tent). Camping trailers and RVs are not permitted.
  • For cooking there is an accessible fire ring and picnic table outdoors.
  • Cabins have one double bed with a thin mattress pad.
  • Bathroom facilities include an accessible pit toilet, flush toilets and a shower near the cabin.
  • For electricity there are two outlets and lighting in the cabin.
  • A small open porch.

You will need to bring food and drinks, cooking and eating utensils (dishes are not provided at any of the cabins), sheets/blankets/pillows/sleeping bags, towels and wash cloths, personal hygiene items and, if you wish, extension cords, lawn chairs and a cell phone.

Only certified service animals are allowed in the cabins. State law prohibits pets in state buildings.

A vehicle admission sticker is required on all motor vehicles using a state park and must be purchased on or before entry into the park. No more than two vehicles may be parked at the accessible cabin campsite.

For the rustic cabins, check-in time for the cabin is 3 p.m. Check out time is 11 a.m. on the last day of the reservation period. The noon check out time allows the cabin to be cleaned for the next it campers.
