Bonniwell Road Wildlife Area

Bonniwell Road Wildlife Area is a 32 acre lowland parcel that is located at the corner of Bonniwell Road and Port Washington Road in the city of Mequon (T-9N R-22 Sec 7). The property is mostly covered by forested lowlands along with small sedge meadow openings.

The Property was donated in 1987 for the use of creating a wildlife area. Since donated the property has been managed to produce cover that can be utilized by wildlife, in order to provide hunting and wildlife viewing opportunities.

Management

Current management practices focus on monitoring the invasive species on the property in order to prevent their spread. Herbicide treatment is used to control the targeted species such as Cut Leaved Teasel, Buckthorn and Phragmites.

There was recently a small parking lot constructed in order to allow off street parking.

Archery-only hunting is allowed (no firearms) and requires a discharge/hunting permit from the Mequon Police Department.
