GameReg - electronic game registration

In 2017, all deer, bear, turkey, bobcat, fisher and otter will be reported electronically through GameReg.

Registration methods

Registration is still mandatory and is accomplished using one of the methods below.

Reminder: You will need your unique tag number or harvest authorization number to begin the registration process.

How it works

Hunters and certain trappers (bobcat, fisher and river otter only) will have several options for registering harvests through the GameReg electronic registration system. Go online to gamereg.wi.gov (fastest and easiest option), call 1-844-GAME-REG (1-844-426-3734) or, if registering a deer or bear, find an in-person registration station that provides one of these methods.

Upon submitting all required harvest information through GameReg, the hunter will receive a 10-character confirmation number for his/her records. This confirmation number no longer needs to be written on the tag or harvest authorization, but should be retained and may be required if the game is taken to a taxidermist or meat processor. All hunters will obtain a confirmation number at the completion of registration, even if registering at an in-person station.

Exception: while bobcat, fisher and otter are reported through GameReg, they still require in-person registration within five days of the end of the month of harvest.

For key species-specific registration requirements, review the harvest registration fact sheet [PDF].

New developments in Go Wild: My GameReg

A new section has been added to your Go Wild personal homepage. The My GameReg section provides you with information on your current tags where you can view and reprint your unused tags or click the quick link to report your harvest. Also available is your GameReg harvest history, where you can view your previous GameReg harvest reports with the confirmation number and the details of your harvest.

My GameReg

Current tags

Current Tags allows you to register a harvest on an unfilled tag or harvest authorization, and autofills some information based on the type of tag/harvest authorization and location for which it is valid. After logging into Go Wild, go to the My GameReg section at the bottom of the page. You can click on any current tag/authorization listed, or click “Current Tags” to access a complete list of your unfilled tags. You can then register a harvest directly on the selected tag/authorization. Tags/authorizations will be automatically removed from this list once all allowable registrations have been reported for a tag/authorization.

Current tags

Look up your tag/harvest authorization number and register directly onto one of your current unfilled tags/authorizations.

Harvest history

Harvest History lists all registered harvests on your Go Wild account (2016 to present). This section includes the tag/harvest authorization number and registration confirmation number for each harvest, allowing you to look up your confirmation number if taxidermists or meat processors require it for processing the harvested animal.

Harvest history

The Harvest History screen in the My GameReg section of Go Wild lists tag/authorization and registration confirmation numbers.

Report harvest

As in the past, Report Harvest redirects to the online GameReg portal and will require an unfilled tag/harvest authorization number and date of birth to begin the registration process.

Report harvest

The Report Harvest button redirects to Gamereg to begin the harvest registration process.

Car-killed deer and turkey registration

Car-killed deer and turkey can also now be registered online through GameReg. On gamereg.wi.gov, click on the car-killed deer and turkey link to get started.
