Public hunting grounds stocked with pheasants

Before hunting pheasants on public hunting grounds, be sure to check the regulations for special requirements that apply including 2:00 pm Closure Areas and Hen-Rooster Hunting Areas. A Pheasant Stamp is required statewide.

Depending on production levels at the state game farm, pheasants are released once prior to the pheasant hunting season and then twice a week for the first 2-3 weeks of the season. After that birds are released once a week until early December (except during the 9-day gun deer season). The number of birds released at a time depends on the property size and weather conditions.

Select a property on the map below for more information. Locations are approximate. Refer to property details for location/directions. For information on historical stocking levels, please refer to the pheasant stocking information sheet [PDF].
