DNR Fisheries AreasBig Spring Creek (Branch)

Big Spring CreekBig Spring Creek (Branch) is a class 1 and class 2 brown trout stream in Grant and Iowa Counties that includes some upland southern hardwoods, . Big Spring Creek is a specifically named and codified as an Exceptional Resource Waters (ERW). The property also includes large elevated headwaters spring, i.e., "The Big Spring".

Location/Directions

Big Spring Creek (Branch) lands start at the junction with the Blue River in Grant County (T 7N, R 1W, section 4) and proceeds upstream to headwater springs in Iowa County (T 7N, R 1E, section 18).

The fishing easement areas are basically restricted to fishing and associated activities only; the fee title lands may be used as shown below:

Objective

Big Spring Creek (Branch) is managed to provide a high quality scenic trout fishing opportunities, make accessible and protect the scenic amenities associated with viewing the "Big Spring,", provide for hunting opportunities and other compatible upland outdoor recreational uses.
