Grand River Lock and Dam

DNR Fisheries AreasUpper Fox River Public Access

The Grand River Lock and Dam southeast of Montello is one of several DNR properties included in the Upper Fox River Public Access group of properties along the Upper Fox River.

The Grand River section of the Upper Fox River is expansive and often very busy during the spring fish runs. The department operates two boat launches (no launch fee) above the former dam (dam was removed in 2002) on the Upper Fox river and one on the Grand River itself. There are two large parking areas and an ADA compliant pathway that goes over the former lock channel and back to a fishing pier on the Upper Fox River. A portable restroom is kept on-site during the spring/summer months for use by the public.

Location/Directions

The Grand River Lock and Dam is located off State Highway 22 on Lower Locks Road on the northern edge of Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area and southeast of Montello, Wisconsin.
