- Restoring water quality
Every two years, Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act requires states to publish a list of all waters that do not meet water quality standards. The list, also known as the Impaired Waters List, is updated to reflect waters that are newly added or removed based on new information or changes in water quality status. [See 2014 Updates]
In the 2014 draft list update, DNR proposes to add 192 new waters. A majority of the listing additions are waters that exceed total phosphorus criteria. A significant number of new listings are also based on poor biological condition. [Read Flyer]
