Eden Stone Company [exit DNR]

Eden Stone Company Functionally Equivalent to ISO 14001 Tier 1 participant since 04/19/2013

Eden Stone Company has been family owned and operated for four generations. In addition to a Corporate Office in Eden, Wis., the company maintains quarries in the communities of Eden, Oakfield, Chilton, Stevens Point and Valders which produce a variety of architectural, landscape, veneer, thin veneer and dimensional cut stone.

Annual report tidbit

When constructing a new building to house several rock splitting machines at the Eden facility, it was decided to add geothermal heat to the building. The geothermal heat supplements a used motor oil-burning furnace to keep the building warm during the winter months. The geothermal heat is installed in the floor and also serves to warm up cold rock so the rock does not shatter when it is split.

Environmental activities

Eden Stone Company encourages sustainability throughout its operations. Water used to lubricate and cool saw blades during stone cutting is filtered and re-circulated to be used again, saving hundreds of thousands of gallons of fresh water each week. Additional reuse activities at Eden Stone Company include:

  • reclaiming used oil and combustible petroleum products to fuel oil-burning furnaces that heat the Eden and Valders facilities;
  • turning scrap and waste rock into fill, berm material and road building material or crushing into aggregate for a variety of applications; and
  • recycling all steel, aluminum, paper, cardboard, glass and plastic with a goal of ensuring all employees take part in the recycling program.
