MFL and FCL harvesting step #8: Submitting the cutting reportWhat information is needed for the cutting report

Harvested logs within a Wisconsin forest
Harvested logs within a Wisconsin forest.

The cutting report lists the specific information about the number and/or volume of trees that were harvested.

One of the most important things to help with filling out the cutting report is if the landowner had a system for tracking timber that was harvested during the sale. It may be helpful for the landowner to request assistance from a forester or logger in completing the cutting report.

The DNR forester would have returned the Cutting Notice and Report form to the landowner and/or their representative after the cutting notice portion was submitted prior to the harvest. The landowner should use that form and complete page two which is the cutting report. The cutting report must include the following information:

  • actual volumes cut by species, product and description including fine woody material;
  • if no cutting was done, indicate "No Cut"; and
  • landowner(s) signature(s).
