Annual burning permit registration steps
You can obtain a free DNR annual burning permit over the Internet. If you have already used any of the current electronic business tools, you do not need to create a new WAMS Wisconsin User ID. Use your existing user ID and password to log in to the Burning Permit Registration (see Step 3 below).
If you are new to using electronic business tools, then you'll need to complete the following steps (please note that after step 2, you will need to return to this webpage to complete step 3):
- Create a WAMS Wisconsin User Id by clicking on the link and completing the self-registration form. Please only fill out the required fields indicated by the red asterisk.
- Activate your WAMS Wisconsin User ID. After completing step 1, you should receive an email from WAMS@Wisconsin.gov with a web link to click on to activate your WAMS ID.
- Return here to complete the Annual Burning Permit form.
You will know that your permit is complete after you are asked to print and sign the annual burning permit. A copy of the burning permit will also be emailed directly to you for your records.
Then, simply check the fire restrictions after 11:00 a.m. each day before you burn!
