Lake Michigan Charter Captain Information

Lake Michigan's charter fishing industry offers anglers a proven way to find fish while contributing to the region's economy by drawing thousands of visitors annually. More than 300 licensed charter captains ply the waters from Kenosha to Marinette giving anglers a variety of options to harvest salmon and trout along the entire Wisconsin coastline.

Each year, charter captains help clients bring in more than 90,000 fish with chinook, coho, rainbow trout and lake trout among the most popular targets.

DNR's fisheries bureau works with the Lake Michigan charter captains to manage the harvest in a sustainable way. Annual meetings hosted by the department's fisheries supervisors provide the captains with critical information about the changing Lake Michigan ecosystem, survey data, stocking plans and aquatic invasive species.

The next meeting charter captain meeting is scheduled for April 2017.
