Intermittent On/Off Aeration
Biological Phosphorus Removal Design
|
Demonstration of Intermitttent On/Off Aeration at a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant for Denitrification and Energy SavingsFinal ReportCost SavingsEven though an effluent limit of 1 mg/L of phosphorus concentration was not achieved, the operation of intermittent aeration. The total annual electrical energy and chemical saving was $24,800 with the intermittent operation. Table 4.1 listed the detail of the cost savings.
The saving of liquid alum addition, which is used to remove phosphorus at the Ashland WWTP, is another evidence indicated that PAOs were induced by the operation of intermittent aeration.
