Amending a Basin Plan

Basin plans can be amended through DNR staff or management proposing such an amendment to the Watershed Deputy Bureau Director. These amendments may take the form of a an addition of a stormwater management plan, for example, or the change to an existing ranking for a watershed or waterbody.

The amendment process involves requesting an amendment by a regional water resources biologist, planner or nonpoint source coordinator. The amendment should identify the specific supporting biological, physical, and/or chemical data to support such a change. The amendment request should have professional concurrence or support from these different parties. Letters or emails of support should suffice.

All supporting materials should be submitted with the amendment request. When plans have been formally certified by the Governor to the USEPA and approved by USEPA, amending the plan will involve an administrative decision.
