Water Treatment  -  How did they do that?

A view of the dewatering pad still under construction, but with geotube dewatering underway. The water in the foreground has drained through the gravel, and will migrate to the low point of the pad where a sump is located.

Water From Geotubes

A view of the main water treatment device. This tank uses "dissolved air floatation" combined with "sand filtration" to clean the water. As the water comes in it is subjected to a spray of bubbles. Any small particles that are in the water become attached to the bubbles and rise to the surface, where they are skimmed off and removed. (See picture insert.) The rest of the water exits through the bottom, where it passes through a layer of sand that filters the water further. Though not pictured here, the water then passes through "Granular Activated Carbon" filters which clean the water even more before it is discharged.

Water Treatment System

A view of the outfall pipe coming from the treatment plant and extending out underwater toward the center of the lake. This pipeline has since been buried in the lakebed as well as on land.
