- Protect public health and safety, and the states groundwater resources, by ensuring wells are constructed according to Department regulations.
- Protect public health and safety by ensuring public water systems are properly operated and maintained.
- Protect public health and safety by reviewing community water system facilities prior to construction.
- Protect public health and safety by ensuring that all public water systems meet drinking water quality standards.
- Protect public health and safety by ensuring that all public water systems are sampled at the appropriate frequency.
- Protect public health and safety and the state's groundwater resources, by reviewing plans for high capacity wells prior to construction.
- Protect outstanding resource waters, exceptional resource waters, and any class I, II, or III trout stream, from excessive groundwater withdrawal.
- Obtain and manage baseline data on groundwater use and all municipal drinking water supplies in Wisconsin in order to begin implementation of a water conservation program.
