Data in SWIMS

SWIMS is Wisconsin DNR's surface water data system, holding water and sediment chemistry, physical, habitat, and some biological data. SWIMS holds key elements of a monitoring project including:

  • Who -- Who collected the data
  • What -- What was collected (Fieldwork events, Results). Also Resources of Interest (mapped areas), Management Actions, and Documents.
  • When -- When did the monitoring occur
  • Where -- Monitoring "stations" and detailed "locations"
  • Why -- Purpose, status and background documents for the monitoring
  • How -- Data preparation, collection, and analysis methods and equipment

SWIMS data includes:

Data Comments
Lab Portal Database Surface water and sediment data analyzed by the State Lab of Hygiene from 1986 to present
