This data layer represents surface water open areas like lakes, reservoirs, flowages, etc. These water features are generally derived from the blue, open water polygons that are displayed on the USGS 7.5 minute topographic maps. 24K reflects the mapscale of the data which is 1:24,000.

| Water Body ID Code (WBIC): A 7 digit number assigned by WDNR to uniquely identify the open water area. | |
| River System Name: Name of the river system the open water area is a part of. (Ex: Lake Mendota is part of the Yahara River system) | |
| River System WBIC: A 7 digit number assigned to uniquely identify the RIVER SYSTEM the open water area is a part of. | |
| Register of Waterbodies Name: The official name from WDNR's Register of Waterbodies. | |
| Register of Waterbodies River Name: The official name from WDNR's Register of Waterbodies for the river system the open water area is a part of. | |
