Nonpoint Source Runoff Monitoring: Compliance inspections for runoff are conducted for stormwater control from municipal separate storm sewer systems, certain industries and construction sites of an acre or more, and concentrated animal feeding operations. In future, compliance tracking of performance standards and the effectiveness of NPS-related TMDL implementation are planned.

Point Source Effluent Receiving Water Monitoring: Targeted compliance monitoring for WPDES permittees has been in place since the beginning of the WPDES permitting program and is conducted as need arises. As staff conduct compliance monitoring and inspections they determine on a case-specific basis whether samples are necessary.

Public Drinking Water Well Monitoring: Data collection helps determine if surface and groundwater supply public water systems meet federal public health standards for contaminants in drinking water. Regulated contaminants include 15 inorganic compounds, 51 synthetic organic and volatile organic compounds, and 4 radionuclides.
