Lake Levels

Question: I want to maintain higher or lower flowage or lake levels. Do I need to obtain a permit and/or pay a fee?

Answer: Establishing or changing levels on lakes or flowages will generally require DNR approval. A fee is required.

Changing water levels can have a variety of impacts on water users, property owners, fish and wildlife. Project review can be lengthy and locally controversial.

For more information, see Wisconsin's Waterway Regulations or contact the Water Management Specialist covering the county where your project is located.
