Eau Claire Flowage, T28N, R7E, Section 12 Surface Acres = 183.7, Maximum Depth = 10 feet, Secchi Disk = No data A hard water drainage lake (impoundment) having slightly acid, light brown water. The shoreline is predominantly upland (98 percent), with the remainder being wetland. The littoral materials are composed of sand (45 percent), muck (45 percent) and gravel (10 percent). Floating aquatic vegetation is moderate in quantity. Fish inhabiting this flowage include northern pike, muskellunge, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, bluegill, black crappie, rock bass, pumpkinseed, black bullhead and white sucker. Migratory waterfowl use this flowage as a resting and feeding site. Of the lake's 6.9 miles of shoreline, 0.3 mile is public frontage. A public boat landing with parking is located adjacent to the dam site. Twenty dwellings are located on the shoreline. The outlet flows to Lake Wausau, a portion of the Wisconsin River. The water control structure, owned by the Village of Schofield, has a head of 6 feet.

Where the scale is 1-5 1= Beautiful, could not be any nicer; 2= Very minor aesthetic problems - excellent for swimming, boating, enjoyment; 3= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment slightly impaired because of algae levels; 4= Desire to swim and level of enjoyment of the lake substantially reduced because of algae (would not swim, but boating ok); 5= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment of the lake nearly impossible because of algae level.
Trophic state is another indicator of water quality.
