North Rice Lake, T26N, RIOE, Section 20 Surface Acres = 220.0, Maximum Depth = 5 feet, Secchi Disk = 2 feet A medium hard water drainage lake (impoundment) having slightly acid, light brown water of low transparency. The immediate shoreline (90 percent) is predominantly shrub and marsh wetland with the remainder being upland hardwood. The entire littoral zone is muck. Emergent and submergent aquatic vegetation are dense while floating vegetation is sparse. Fish species present include northern pike, yellow perch and carp. A water control structure having a head of 5 feet is located at the outlet. The outlet flows to the Little Eau Pleine River. Unimproved or difficult type public access is available across the Department of Natural Resources land. This impoundment is part of a complex of flowages managed by the Department of Natural Resources for waterfowl within the George Mead Wildlife Area.
