Townline Reservoir, T26N, R6E, Section 32 Surface Acres -675.0, Maximum Depth = 10 feet, Secchi Disk = 1 foot A very soft water drained lake (impoundment) having slightly acid, medium brown water of low transparency. The immediate shoreline (70 percent) is predominantly marsh wetland with the remainder being upland hardwood. The littoral materials are clay (60 percent) and silt (40 percent). Emergent aquatic vegetation grows in moderate quantities. Information on the fishery resources is lacking, however, northern pike may be present. A water control structure having a head of 4 feet maintains the water level. The outlet flows to the Little Eau Pleine River. This impoundment is part of a complex of flowages managed by the Department of Natural Resources for waterfowl within the George Mead Wildlife Area. The Department of Natural Resources owns the entire shoreline which provides wilderness type public access.

Public Perception of water conditions = for samples compared to 2 for 204 samples in the basin.
Where the scale is 1-5 1= Beautiful, could not be any nicer; 2= Very minor aesthetic problems - excellent for swimming, boating, enjoyment; 3= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment slightly impaired because of algae levels; 4= Desire to swim and level of enjoyment of the lake substantially reduced because of algae (would not swim, but boating ok); 5= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment of the lake nearly impossible because of algae level.
Trophic state is another indicator of water quality.
