Turtle Lake, T26N, R9E, Section 2 Surface Acres = 3.0, maximum Depth = 5 feet, Secchi Disk = 3 feet A soft water seepage lake having slightly acid, turbid water of low transparency. The immediate shoreline (90 percent) is predominantly upland of mixed hardwoods, pine, pasture, and cultivated land with the remainder being shrub wetland. The entire lake basin is covered with muck. Floating and emergent aquatic vegetation grow in moderate quantities, while the growth of sub- mergent vegetation is dense. Information on the fishery resource is lacking. This lake experiences frequent winterkill. There is no public access or public frontage. There are no shoreline developments.

Where the scale is 1-5 1= Beautiful, could not be any nicer; 2= Very minor aesthetic problems - excellent for swimming, boating, enjoyment; 3= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment slightly impaired because of algae levels; 4= Desire to swim and level of enjoyment of the lake substantially reduced because of algae (would not swim, but boating ok); 5= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment of the lake nearly impossible because of algae level.
Trophic state is another indicator of water quality.
