Lilly Lake, T27N, R10E, Section 36 Surface Acres = 83.4, Maximum Depth = 5 feet, Secchi Disk = 4 feet A medium hard spring lake having slightly acid, clear water of low transparency. The immediate shoreline is wetland (60 percent) of conifer, hardwood, and marsh with the remainder being upland of mixed hardwood and pine. The littoral materials are composed of silt (99 percent) and gravel (i percent). Emergent vegetation is sparse, however, floating vegetation is dense. Fish inhabiting this spring lake include yellow perch, black bullhead, and white sucker. Wood ducks use this lake. There is no boat landing. Of the 0.55 mile of shoreline, 0.23 mile is public frontage controlled by Marathon County. Elderon Park, owned by Marathon County, is located on the west shore adjacent to Highway 49. Shoreline developments include 4 dwellings, a park area and picnic site. The outlet flows to Comet Creek.

Where the scale is 1-5 1= Beautiful, could not be any nicer; 2= Very minor aesthetic problems - excellent for swimming, boating, enjoyment; 3= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment slightly impaired because of algae levels; 4= Desire to swim and level of enjoyment of the lake substantially reduced because of algae (would not swim, but boating ok); 5= Swimming and aesthetic enjoyment of the lake nearly impossible because of algae level.
Trophic state is another indicator of water quality.
