Groundwater Advisory Committee (GAC)The Groundwater Advisory Committee was created by 2003 WI Act 310 to make recommendations to the State Legislature regarding future groundwater management needs in Wisconsin. Two reports are due to the environmental and natural resources standing committees of the Legislature on Dec. 31, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2007. The Committee's specific charge is outlined in a March 11, 2005 memo from Secretary Scott Hassett. The GAC first met on April 1, 2005. Meeting agendas, notes, and handouts will be posted on this site and can be accessed by clicking on meetings on the left hand side of the page. Members of the Groundwater Advisory Committee are appointed by the leaders of both houses of the legislature and the governor, and represent municipal, agricultural, environmental, and industrial interests. The well drilling industry and the WDNR are also represented. In addition, two work groups have been established to provide scientific and technical expertise to the Commmittee on groundwater science, modeling, regional planning, and water management topics. The Department of Natural Resources provides administrative and staff support for the Committee.
