Chlorine Testing Methods

A common method for testing chlorine levels in water is a colorimetric method known as DPD. The DPD (N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) procedure is for the use of prepared powder packets of a known quantity.

1. Collect a sample of a known amount, matching the amount of the powder packet.

2. Add the color reagent (powder packet).

3. Match the color of the sample with a color on the comparator to obtain the chlorine residual.
