Chlorine Levels

Minimum chlorine levels are determined by the reason for chlorination:

  • Systems that chlorinate voluntarily must maintain a trace throughout the system.
  • Systems required to chlorinate, must maintain a 0.2 mg/l residual.
  • Systems under emergency chlorination must be able to reach a 0.5 mg/l residual within four hours of WDNR notification, and maintain it throughout the system.
