Chlorine gas system

Chlorination

The addition of chlorine to water is an effective method of disinfection for most bacteria. The different forms of chlorine used for disinfection are:

  • Gas - pressurized cylinders and regulators that control the amount of chlorine being added
  • Liquid or Solid - feed pumps that pump the chlorine or dissolved chlorine into the system, controlled by the length of stroke (size) and number of strokes (speed). Chlorine feed pumps should be cleaned and flushed with muriatic acid as needed. Hoses should be checked regularly for cracks and deterioration.
