Vents, Screens, Caps and Seals Vents are pipes installed in the well casing to allow for the displacement of air between the casing and the pump column. Without a vent, a vacuum could be created which would prevent the well from pumping water. All vents must have screens installed. Well caps or seals are installed on the top of well casings. These are used to prevent any solid material or insects from entering the well. Frequent inspection of these components is recommended to prevent well contamination. |
