Chemical Characteristics

Chemical constituents are broadly categorized into organic and inorganic compounds. Organic chemicals are carbon-based compounds that may be present due to the following:

  • Naturally occurring compounds, such as plant and aquatic life decay
  • Introduced by humans, such as solvents or pesticides
  • Materials from water treatment and distribution

Inorganic chemicals are not carbon-based and can affect other water parameters such as :
